Help Us Honor a Friend
This week we pause to celebrate Jane Lewis, a dear friend, who recently lost her battle with lung cancer. Jane spent a majority of her career as a textile designer. Pat first met Jane at P&B Textiles in San Francisco in 2005. Recently, she turned to teaching through Pattern Observer, the online website whose mission it is to train surface and textile designers.
Jane was a talented artist who believed in design excellence and who loved color. She once told Pat, “When you work with designers on original designs and CAD work, you never need to settle for mediocre design.” She believed that designers need to be self-critical of their work to make every design excellent for its purpose.
Friends and family, along with the group of talented designers at Pattern Observer, are honoring the memory of Jane by creating a textile design scholarship in her honor. The scholarship will be available to students unable to afford the tuition for their courses with Pattern Observer.
We cannot think of a better way to honor Jane. We intend to spread the word about the GoFundMe campaign supporting the scholarship. The goal is “to make this a long enduring fund that will over time support many blossoming designers.”
If you would like to help perpetuate Jane’s love of design, please contribute to her scholarship fund, which you can find by clicking HERE.
