New York in May

It is a beautiful 70 degree day in New York City, the city is refreshed Saturday after driving rain for hours on Friday and into Friday night.

The freshness has carried over into the set up and creative displays in the Atelier Section of Surtex where we are exhibiting in Booth 1037.

Set up went smoothly — taking us only five hours — sending us out into the late afternoon sunshine to enjoy a cappuccino, as one should do!

One example of a fresh, bright, playful booth is that of Jane Dixon, a Chicago artist who creates small scale designs right on up to giant 8 foot tall floral paintings. She hand paints these impressive designs using house paint, much like Guy Anderson did as a member of the Northwest School of Painters from the Seattle area.

Jane’s paintings are durable and inventive for wall decor, top of bed, giclee, and large scale installations. I may just have to have one in my own home!

The week is meant to be sunny in New York. If you are in town, come outside and walk over to Surtex. Like we did today, you will be inspired to fall in love with design all over again.
