This week we are thrilled to introduce you to the sister act, Jenna and Jodi. They are the creative minds behind the online shop Never Ready for Monday. Enjoy!

  1. What made you decide to venture out on your own and leave the corporate world?

We have always wanted to start a business together.  Over the years, we have hashed out a bunch of potential business ideas.  When we conceptualized Never Ready for Monday, we felt like this was the right idea to create our niche in the market and provide something fresh for our customers.  With an assortment focused on handmade, we mixed in a few larger lines and launched September 2016.  We still feel like business babies, but we are so glad we stepped out together!  Jenna is full time, and Jodi is balancing the business with her daytime gig as we continue to grow NR4M.

  1. What is the best part about owning your own business?

Number one would be working together!  As far as the actual grind of the business, our favorite part is working with the artists.  We’ve met some really kind, talented people in this journey so far.  It’s exciting to sell their thoughtfully crafted pieces.  We love that running a small business helps us maximize the skills we have and pushes us to keep learning.

  1. Tell us about your brand and what sets you apart?

Never Ready for Monday is based on the idea that if Monday is a must, then making home the perfect escape is also a must.  Life seems to be constantly moving faster, and it’s important to create a space for some r&r.   This space to us is home.

We offer our customers a selection of beautiful, timeless pieces.  A major focus is on handmade, artisan items.  We wanted to incorporate heirloom pieces, such as our wool throws, that can be passed down for generations.  There is a lot of duplication and disposability in the home goods sector, and we wanted to carve out our corner of the internet for thoughtfully crafted, beautiful pieces.  We love the stories to our pieces so much that we created a Maker’s section on the site.  It lets our customers have a peek into the story and process behind some of the product.

  1. What long-term opportunities do you see for your creative viewpoint and products?

Our long-term goal is to continue to work with artisans and build out a lifestyle brand.  We plan to add in additional categories such as clothing and beauty.  In the next couple of years, we are also planning to introduce our own private label.  Our goal is to continue to bring beautiful, useful items to our customers.

Long live the weekend!
