Natural Bold Geometrics

The arrival of bold geometric patterns in design history is generally associated with the modern machine age, filled with decorative elements alluding to industrial and architectural forms and synthetic colorways. But many modern geometrics use nature as their touchstone and allow consumers to stay connected to the natural world when living in an increasingly digital one. Natural geometrics have the ability to bring joy and delight to our surroundings with patterns we inherently recognize as the beautiful forms of nature, while celebrating the new and the current with bold and enchanting shapes and colors.

Patricia Nugent Textiles offers many natural geometrics to choose from for design inspiration. Some suggest the movement of water or the sway of the breeze, an idyllic woodland or rocky beach, the delicate intricacies of a flower or the infinite vastness of the cosmos. All have bold graphic shapes and exciting colorways that are modern and versatile. And just for fun, we feature four such patterns from our collection. We paired them with images from nature that we imagine may have inspired the design. It is a wonderful way to appreciate the continuum we know as pattern design.
